I believe it is the equipment manager's signature, I guess to serve as an "approval" of the equipment assigned to the player.

Correct, the "JS" stands for equipment manager Jim Schmakel whose initials you will frequently see on Tigers' gamers.

The JS initials are a sign that the team approved the release of the jersey into the hobby/fan market. This started in the 1980s when, unlike now, only a small number of Tigers gamers were in the hobby, and many of them were stolen or obtained without going through proper channels. The Tigers would sometimes send team officials to the many small and large Detroit area shows of the day looking for Tigers gamers, and a jersey without the "JS" was deemed by the team officials to have gotten in the marketplace in an unauthorized manner. They would declare them stolen property and confiscate them.

I love that its an Indians bat, because I got hooked on Thome when he killed the Royals as a long-time Indian. Back before I was married with children I went to nearly every Indians game in KC. Each player was issued 2 home and 2 road for the 08 WS. These were not worn in the regular season and those were sold seperately. After the series, some took 1, some took both. What wasnt taken was stored away and just recently brought out and authenticated. Since the Phillies had no way of knowing which were worn and which werent, they were holo's as issued.

I was able to photomatch this one by using the stripes, as well as some faint dirt residue on the front. Its hard to see it in the photos, but its there. Each and every stripe matches up. The wash tag shows tremendous use for 2 games.

This jersey was one of dozens of "2008 World Series jerseys" that the Phils have marked as team issued. They had others, including Ryan Howard, Ruiz, Victorino, etc. All were being sold at rock bottom prices, if I recall this Rollins was listed for $300. Same with the Howard. Almost none of them showed any use at all, except the Rollins, with the light dirt from sliding on the front. The Phils told me that it was highly unlikely any of these were worn during the 2008 World Series, only to pop of in March of 2011. However, they thought the Rollins was likely used during the regular season and then had a patch added. I'm not trying to discredit your photomatch, but I wouldn't be so sure you got a steal from the Phils. Good luck and thanks for the post.

Is this a jersey that you bought at the first exhibition game on March 29th? I noticed about this jersey after I sat down for the start of the game, but decided to wait until after the game was over to see about it. I agree with philsfan that this jersey was most likely a used jersey during the season with patch added on, but for $300 it is easily worth that for Rollins even if it is team issued.

I was one of the first people there at that stand because I bought the Halladay (blue), Utley (blue), Brown (blue), and Schmidt (green). With regards to my jerseys that were listed as team issued, the 3 blue jerseys all show use (Halladay is listed as team issued Henderson). The Schmidt jersey would have only been used for 1 game so it would depend on if he wore a jersey for that game (I believe it would be the 2010 St. Patrick's Day game). I really did not want to spend any more, but I could have easily bought the Rollins, along with a few other jerseys, and the hats as well.

I just can't imagine that Rollins took off one of his World Series jerseys from such a historic year and threw it in a pile in the clubhouse and nobody did anything with it until the Spring of 2011. And what of the other dozen or so other "World Series Patch" jerseys that Hollinger and the Phils were also selling for $300 and less? Are they all World Series Game Used Jerseys??? If I had to guess, the jerseys were all game issued and ready for play, some may have been used during the season, some were never used. The Phils (who always love making money off us folks) stuck 08 patches on the arms and decided to sell them for a few hundred dollars since they couldn't truly confirm that any of them were ever worn. The 08 patches attract a ton of folks, including me. Again, not trying to discredit anyones purchase. More power to you if you got a steal on a Rollin's historic jersey, I just think it is not a slam dunk.

We definitely need to get more info about what exactly was donated as well. You can't tell from the pictures and it does not clearly state that it was his 2008 World Series uniform. I just can't believe that the Phillies would have sold the actual 2008 World Series jersey on that day with the other jerseys. Also, you would think that they would have authenticated every jersey like they did in 2009 (I have road jerseys that state Games 1, 2 and 6). When I went back that night, I took one of the jerseys (it may have been Brett Myers), and the tag looked new to me. Still, it hurts that I did not buy the Rollins as I did not want to spend more.

I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to photomatches and it looks dead on. I think the naysayers just have sour grapes because they passed on it. A photomatch is better than any paperwork or hologram out there.

The guy I bought this from, bought 7 others, and he said the Rollins was the only one that showed use. I bought it before I even photomatched it, and was shocked when I was able to.

You know it's funny how every other day we all discuss how hit or miss the MLB Authentication program can be and how uninformed MLB clubs are when it comes to GU but we can’t believe that something like this slips through the cracks. I can totally believe it and I’ve always believed that pinstripes are like fingerprints and to me the photos don’t lie, it’s the same jersey. I am just curious, when did they sell the Utley, Howard, etc. ones? The list I saw had Rollins, Victorino at $300 and then they dropped to $250, $200, etc. Did you contact Hollinger himself?

Videomatched Pink 2010 Mother's Day bat used by Matt Diaz against the Phillies May 9th 2010.

Matt was an outstanding 0 for 4. Some people like bats matched to home runs but no hits? That's incredible! :p Best part is there are several seam marks and blue mlb logo transfers form the ball. Came with a Braves COA as well.

The video it matches to is on mlb.com There is a large white ball mark easily seen towards the top of the bat. If anyone has access to a way to make a screen capture of it, I'd really appreciate it. Email is GinGi79@aol.com

Jimmy Rollins 2008 game used bat. According to MLB hologram, last used on July 24, 2008 when said bat came to an unexpected demise at the hands of Billy "The Kid" Wagner (5th on the all-time saves list) for the last out of the Phils vs. Mets game. The stuff I do have is stored...our condo is not very big and what display room I have I use for the more important stuff (caps, bats, jerseys). The totals are based on BP and game baseballs caught or retrieved, not on what I have on hand.

Thanks, Dave! Morgan isn't my favorite either.....but is a 2X MVP and a major part of the Big Red Machine. The bat is sweet and 70's gamers of HOF players are getting a bit more difficult to come by.

Talk about a small world! I have the actual ball that was in play when Berkman was batting in the ALCS game 2 picture above. It's FJ251302, one of 55 balls authenticated from that game. It has the dirt stain from being fouled by Berkman into the LH batter's box.

I bought it from the Rangers' charity table at the stadium before the start of WS game 3. It was used for the first two pitches: a ball, and the foul ( incorrectly called a "foul tip" by the authenticator, a mistake in terminology he made throughout the game.) At first I thought it was used also for the preceding strikeout of Posada ( who didn't touch the ball), but a tape showed that Oliver apparently got a new ball after the strikeout.

Now and then on ebay etc a 2500$ shirt turns up and sells for 399$ but that happens once every few years at best.

I know you only collect quality players with ironclad provenance so your collection must be quite good. if you ever have the chance shoot some pics for us to see.

Was at the Phillies game today and was happy to find they still had two 2008 World Series game issued jerseys available. I picked up the Jimy Williams (coach used?) jersey. They had one left of Mick Billmeyer and handful of 2009 World Series ones too (2x Dubee, Backo and couple of other lesser players/coaches).

I'm hoping I am as lucky as MLB_Authentic in matching his Rollins jersey, but even if not, the price was right for a World Series issued jersey.

Also, they had a lot of the last year's TBTC games from when they wore the 1965 jerseys (don't hold me to it, just working off memory). They had Lidge, Blanton, good amount of bench players too. I believe they were priced around $200 and up and they had a good amount of similar players in warm-up/spring training jerseys, including the St. Patty's Day green ones. The warm-up/spring training jerseys were a bit pricey I thought, but I am not huge into those jerseys.

First up is a 2011 Team Issued Jackie Robinson Day Jersey. As you might know the Astros went to strictly cool base this season. These cool base jerseys as of today are not yet available to the public yet. It is still Made is USA. This jersey was prepared for the team but never worn.

I've had this bat for about 5 years, but finally got it signed as Corey Hart is currently on a rehab assignment with my hometown minor league team, the Nashville Sounds.

And thankfully the number on the knob of the bat is 1, which was his jersey number in Nashville.

Since I started collecting game used in 1975, seeing a really outstanding bat like this one brings back a lot of great memories. What a gorgeous piece! Congratulations on picking it up. Even if it was a scrub, this would still be a great acquisition!

I will always pay more (and sadly I usually do!) for the real deal. I have paid several thousand $ over what the supposed " market value" of a shirt is multiple times for the real thing. I recently purchased a 1994 home Deion Sanders with team letter and overpaid BUT it is real and that's what counts to me and I am sure you as well.

I look at buying these shirts like art. I am sure that the collectors that paid big $ for authentic Warhols etc were criticized but quality always wins out in the end. You cant beat investing in current and future HOF players and knowing you have purchased authentic shirts.

Keep the pics coming as will I. I am sure other NFL collectors appreciate it just as much as I do.
