I just recently picked up a GU Manny Ramirez bat. The bat is a black LVS M9 model S318. This has his name in script with Boston Red Sox under his name. The sticker type LVS logo has the smaller circle with "Rock Hard Maple" underneath it. What I dont understand is that the TPX maple leaf or the MLB insignia are NOT on the backside of the barrel. Im asking for some help in determining if this a genuine GU bat since it does not have those insignias on the barrel. I thought those insignias were on all the M9 bats. It has good game use with his number 24 on the knob and inside the cupped end of the barrel. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Re: GU Manny Ramirez Bat Help
Do you have photos of the bat you can post.
The missing maple leaf logo could have been left out by mistake or the early issued maple bats did not have the maple logo.
I would also contact Brian from Louisville Sluggers for shipping records and rye missing logo.
Thanks,

Re: GU Manny Ramirez Bat Help
the pictures are too close to tell for sure but your bat looks lazer etched, that would place it between 04/05. I have a nick swisher bat from this time frame that also does not have a tpx or mlb logo. hope this helpsComment

Re: GU Manny Ramirez Bat Help
I did look at pics on Gettys yesterday and found him to be using this style of bat in 2004 and again in 2006, but the latter all had the TPX logo on them, which would make me believe that it could be from 2004. It is just puzzling why the insignias did not appear on some bats like yours also.Comment

Re: GU Manny Ramirez Bat Help
players can request the logos not to be placed on the bats like arod for example, his bats also dont have tpx or mlb logos. it really is a non factor unlike an underlined 125 would be.Comment
