What did Sparky wear with the 1980 Phillies?
Thanks to Howard Wolf, we have a look-see.
Lyle joined the Phillies roughly two months after the previous wearer of the #39, Lerrin LaGrow, was released. LaGrow's gamers were issued to Lyle, with NOB change, but with the NIC untouched, as photos show:
He wore #39 in 1981 spring training, and it's unsure whether he still wore these jerseys or a 1981 tagged #39, as once viewed at MEARS and currently in the Grey Flannel auction. But, for 1980's pennant drive, this was it.
