After he blasted his popularity with the Magic and then his flame out and immaturity with the Lakers......and then on top of how he is perceived as kind of a dick right now still......you won't get near the FMV for it. I wouldn't sell it for less than 1000 but I dunno if you'd even get offered that right now.

Based on he high res pics and videos I've gathered from 79-80 season, I believe this shirt was only worn during the NBA Finals of that year. It was worn in all the road games of that series -games 3,4 and the infamous game 6. Amazingly it was recycled and used again thru-out the 83-84 season including all road playoff games and then worn in the 84 Finals vs Celtics in games 1,2,5 and 1st half of game 7 only. This was the series that Boston Garden had no AC where court temperatures hovered in the mid 90 degree range.

Today guys seem like they wear a new jersey every night (or two). I wonder how many game jerseys Magic Johnson has in his collection today, if any.

I don't know about way back then or what it's like now. Earlier in Derek Fisher's career and in that mid to late 90s era at least, some of the commons would use the same jersey over again for at least part of the next season. I think though now, with how the hobby is, it is probably down to about a 5% chance anyone, even a common wears the same jesey more than a season.

That's an interesting tidbit. I think you're right that most of the players probably didn't know or care what jersey was what. By most reports the league was struggling at that time to gain popularity and stay viable. Very different from how it is today.

here's a game worn 1990-91 New York Knicks jersey from Brian Quinnett.
In my opinion this style is the best the Knicks ever had especially with the arched NOB.
Photomatched to a NBA Hoops Card and also to game 1 of the 1991 Playoff series against the Bulls. (the wrinkled numbers are sewn that way which make it unique,as is the handcut rendering of the numbers, larger space between the q and the u)

My current favorite Net - Brook Lopez - White jersey was issued.. his first game ever as a Net .. preseason though...met him and had him sign it.. was the first in line by hours... and I told him it was his... we weren't supposed to take pics with him, but he let me...the signature was done in silver sharpie so it is light... didn't know about paint pens back then.. the crazy thing is I almost decided to trace over it to make it darker. to this day I'm so happy I didn't make that dumb mistake...

The second one was in his limited playing time during the last season in NJ

I wanted a jersey from his NJ days so bad, but will only buy from 100% sources like Meigray.. sadly no NJ jerseys like that exist that I know of... only "team sourced" with no LOA..

Thanks, love seein pics of your collection. Most of my collection is basketball because it's my favorite sport. The majority of my gamers are Meigray certified as well.


Basketball is really the only sport that I watch regularly. I love it well beyond the other sports. I watch the NFL a little, but don't really follow it as much. I always wanted something game worn as a kid and finally caught my first few game worn head bands and towels as an adult. When I was looking around for game worn stuff, I wanted to ensure it was definitely game worn which is when I came across Meigray and eventually Steiner. Lucky for me Meigray is only about 45 minutes away from where I live so I've had the chance to actually go to Meigray which was a great experience.

Chris Webber 2004-05 game used Kings jersey
I purchased this jersey this year with the story that it came from a 76ers equipment manager. After receiving it, and researching the jersey, it appears as though it was worn for several games in 2005. The jersey is tagged 2004-05 which was Webber's last year in Sacramento. He was traded to Philadelphia midseason that year. The jerseys is a size 50 +4. There are a few areas that can be seen consistently in game photos. The front v-neck stitching is not centered and is of to the players left. On the jerseys front left edge to the side of the NBA logo some loose threads can be seen where the purple threads overlay the white trim. The front "Sacramento" logo has multiple loose threads and white lint that match up. and on the rear right armpit area there is a large loose purple thread that dangles.
