Interesting Item- Reggie Jackson Final Home Run World Series Baseball

Saw this on ebay. It's starting at 90k.

    Here's the description

Reggie Jackson Final Home Run World Series Baseball COA

You are bidding on a slice of baseball history.

This is the last home run baseball hit by Reggie Jackson in a World Series. It earned him the name "Mr. October." The ball comes with a notarized certificate of authenticity signed by the owner.
Jackson, the power-hitting Hall of Famer dubbed "Mr. October" for his clutch performances in several World Series, sent the ball soaring into the stands - and into baseball history - on October 24, 1981 during Game Four at Dodger Stadium. The winner of the auction will receive the ball, a certificate of authenticity, a game program from the day the ball was hit and a DVD with the historical news footage of the memorable home run.

    Manufacturer: RAWLINGS

Model: 1981 World Series Official Ball

Accessories: With the ball, the lucky bidder will get a notarized certificate of authenticity signed by owner John Coleman, a copy of the game day program and a DVD copy of the 2 minute documentary tracing the history of the ball.
For the security of buyer and seller, payment for this transaction will be handled through www.escrow.com.

Features: Take a look at this website for footage of the story of how the ball was retrieved:

This is the 17th and final home run ball hit by Reggie Jackson in a World Series.
For nearly a quarter a century it has been carefully stored by the guy who retrieved that ball in the right field bleachers, and this is your opportunity to own the ball.
Amazingly, this auction has NO RESERVE.

When did Notary Publics start writing letters of authenticity?
Why didn't the seller keep his ticket stub?
Reggie was known as "Mr. October" about 4 years before the '81 Series. The listing says he became known as "Mr. October" after this homer.

I'd like to own the Reggie Homerun ball DROPPED by George Jefferson (now that's rare).

The Notary didnt write the LOA, they merely signed and notarized it saying that the document was signed in front of them by the Coleman person and that he is who he says he is.

There are some photos that appear to be time specific but I wouldnt waste big money on it.

question: were ballclubs not using mud on the balls in '81?
i caught a foul ball once in the early 90s and it had/has a brownish tinge to it from the red, new jersey mud they use to rub up all the balls.

        rudy.

I was going to say the same thing. Does MLB still rub the game balls down with that special mud? Any idea where the mud rubbing bit came from. Was it to dull the color some?
