Help with a 1966 Game Ball?

Hi. This ball came from a local antique store. After doing some research I found one almost identical (except mine isn't signed, nor in as good of condition) that was sold by Grey Flannel this month: http://catalog.greyflannelauctions.c...Game-Ball-(JSA)

My initial thoughts were that there is no way this ball was game used, since the stitching by the laces can be seen through the white quarter of the ball. So, how were these balls distributed? Did every play on the team (presumably the Rams) receive one? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

In 1966, the NFL used a Wilson-manufactured football with the stamp of Thorp Sporting Goods. It looks as though this ball is a Rawlings. While not game used, it's still a sweet ball, though I have no idea how these were distributed.

      Thanks for the information.

I was about 99% sure it wasn't game used, but had hoped it was an official league ball. Oh well.

Can anyone else shed any light on the ball?
