Pyburn was also an assistant football coach at the Univ of Georgia for many years. In fact, his son Jeff was a QB there & graces the cover of the 1979 Collegiate Street & Smith annual.

For those of us who grew up in the football-mad South, we knew Jim Pyburn mainly from his football fame. He was an All-America receiver at Auburn and, as ironmanfan mentioned, was a defensive coach for many fine Georgia teams under Vince Dooley.

Pyburn was from my hometown of Birmingham (actually born in adjacent Fairfield where Willie Mays is from), and Pyburn is a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame. May he rest in peace.
