Auction item....maybe the nameplate was changed and was incorrect?

Hi...I recently came across this jersey at an auction house......#30 Mark Van Eeghen......but is misspelled "Van Eeghan". Anyone else ever see this? I am assuming the nameplate was changed and just misspelled.....definite color difference from the jersey to nameplate

My guess is that the team stripped the nameplate off with intent to pass the jersey on to another player in a subsequent season.

The jersey later hit the second market, and the buyer took it upon himself to have the nameplate restored -- but the name was misspelled during this process.
