I was looking at this auction on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/DEREK-JETER-GAME-USED-COLLECTION-JERSEY-BAT-WRISTBAND-/250845919432?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6794f8c8

The question I have is does anyone have any information or insight about this armband?

http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m637/jtorrez1/KGrHqVi0E3Sb9G9dBOCMNWCKhg_3.jpg

It looks way off from the others that I have seen, usually they are a polyester stretch like material with ribs, this one looks like it is a flat ribbon like material.

This is what the armbands that I have seen look like:

Did the Yankees ever wear armbands like the one on the jersey in the auction?

This is a picture of a 2000 Rivera jersey the armband looks different, so they Yankees were using different armbands in the same year?

In the auction, I noticed the Sam bat. I am not aware of Jeter ever using a sam bat in BP or in a game? Wasn't someone convicted years ago of forging Jeter Sam bats as game used and selling them? or was it Arod? Anyone have a copy of the story please post a link.

The bat in auction might be one of those bats...

correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Yankees game jerseys from that season not have a year flag designation?

Some jersey had the "2000" tag and some had the "Y0" tag. However, that armband sure looks funky. I had a 2000 jersey and the armband was like the others pictured in this thread. Also, besides Jeter never using anything buts a LS P72 throughout his career, the possibility that he used that SAM bat even in BP is slim. He has never put a 2 on his bats either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my recollection was that the 2000 Russell label had the registered trademark logo by the last L in RUSSELL, instead of the C in ATHLETIC. The logo didn't relocate to that spot until during 2001.

All 3 items in the lot appear "iffy" to me.

> The armband on the jersey is totally incorrect - width, material, and placement are all off. Maybe it's a legit blank with both the number and armband added to "create" a Jeter.

> The bat is suspect as already mentioned a couple of times in this thread.

> And the wristband doesn't look exactly right to me either (although that's the piece I'm least familiar with). The number placement seems off from legit examples I've seen before.

The Viz jersey is a nice one. The Russell tag is a carryover from the 1995-99 period...not terribly unusual but not an example of the 2000 tag that I mentioned earlier.

At the January 1997 Yankee Fan Fest, I actually did see a Jeter game used rookie bat (black P72) with a 2 on the knob, but you are correct in that since then, he doesn't do it.

I was at that fan fest, absolute madness  They were supposed to be selling all kinds of 1995 and 1996 Yankees game used stuff, but it was so crazy they decided not to. This guy/dealer I know got everything to sell. To this day he still has some stuff. He even is listing it on Ebay.
