I'm thinking those caps are only available to the players.

They probably won't sell them because the stars are being added by the teams, not the actual maker of the hats

Didn't want to add a new thread, but here's a quick story on the HR Derby Balls. The gold balls are going to have supposedly hold their own weight in gold in a sense.

Looks like not all teams are electing to wear the stars, like St. Louis for example.

As far as other teams, it almost looks as if Astros' RF Hunter Pence removed the stars from his cap. It looks like the outlines are still there, just not the gold stars. He still has them on his jersey. Anybody have the scoop on Hunter?

              Frik:

I'm not sure why Pence did it, but your assessment of the removed stars on the back of his cap is one I agree with.

the 2011 authentic team jersey with the stars sewn on the back are now for sale on MLB.com. Haven't been able to find the hats yet though. Does anyone know if the team All Stars are going to wear them (stars on jersey + hat) for the rest of the year?

At FanFest in Phoenix, the MLB shop had the standard New Era fitted team caps available for $40.00. You could pay for the cap at the main register check out, ask the cashier to purchase the two gold stars and the 2011 All Star logo, and they would pull it from behind the counter and add it to your purchase for $2.00. No tax was being charged. It was $42.00 total. You then needed to head back to the cap department in the MLB shop where you had just selected your cap, and there was a machine set up to press on or seal on the All Star logo and two gold stars that was being worked by employees of New Era brought out to Phoenix from New York to do that job. It only took them a minute or two to press on the patches.

Note I checked, and the cashiers were under clear instructions NOT to sell any extra stars or patches. The only sales that were allowed were to match the caps you were purchasing at that moment. They would not sell them to you to put on existing caps.

That's cool that you can finally get the retail ones. Thanks for the heads up.

Has anyone seen the game-used caps with the stars on them for sale? I got the Valverde from the Tigers, but I'm hoping to land a few more. LMK if anybody sees them.
