I don't know how the seller arrived at this conclusion, but it's not even close. The jersey is advertised as a 2008 Osiris Matos jersey signed by "70s Giants player Rob Taylor". Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it?:confused:
It shouldn't. Matos was a grade school kid when this jersey was made. It's from a home and road set of PCL Throwbacks issued in the pre-interleague play year of 1994 for a preseason home-and-home exhibition series between the Giants (PCL San Francisco Seals unies) and the Athletics (PCL Oakland Oaks attire).
The jersey was issued to, and probably worn, BY Rob Taylor, as he was one of the final cuts in spring training that year, and spent the entire season at AAA Phoenix, with no chance to be brought up for expanded rosters because of the work stoppage.
Ebbets Field Flannels made both teams' uniforms for this 2-game set, and the jerseys were marketed by the late Dick Dobbins.
The Giants outfits were limited to being used in the exhibition series. Oakland's road threads were worn again in a TBTC game at Seattle during the regular season.
