    Question about these three Bats

I bought these three bats about two weeks ago. I am assuming they came from 2005 but want to see the bat records to make sure they are legit.

All have cupped ends and I thought I heard somewhere that the bats should have a C after C271. Is this true?

    Any help is abreciated.

Re: Question about these three Bats

The Borchard bat is from 1999-2001, which would make it a pre-rookie bat since Borchard came up in 2002. It can be dated by the MLB logo on the front.

Assuming it's ash, the Burke bat was made in 2001 or later; since he joined the Sox in 2003, it can be dated from that period. If it's a maple bat (I can't tell from the photo), it would be a 2003 bat because H&B stopped branding maple bats after 2003 in favor of the M9 sticker.

The Gload bat dates to 2004 or later (the M9 sticker dates it).

None of the bats should have C271C on the barrel -- just C271. The second "C" is the notation made on shipping records to indicate the bat is cupped. It's not stamped on bats.

I doubt Jim or Mike have records for these guys since they're so recent, but it's pretty safe to assume from your photos that the bats are legit.

    Hope that helps.

Jeff - as always, thanks for providing that info. Glen - Jeff is correct - we currently have very few modern day player Louisville Slugger Shipping records in our files. I agree with Jeff - the bats look like legitimate gamers.......welcome to the hobby!! Jim
