Maybe this is Bengal jersey 101, but I had a revelation tonight on these 1980's through mid 90's jersey's.

I always knew the stripes on these jersey's were different from player to player, thus no bengal jersey is exactly the same, but what I didn't realize was the stripes on the left and right shoulder of the SAME player is exactly the same, but just flipped around. For example: the front of the left shoulder on this 91' Boomer Esiason jersey has the same pattern as the back of the right shoulder.

Now with this being the case, let me catch you up to speed on how and why this is relevant to the question I'm about to ask. I got my hands on a different mid 80's Boomer jersey to try and video match it (I have about 95% of every Bengals game from the 80's). After some time comparing the stripes of all the games I realized that the jersey I had in my possession has a different style from all the other authentic bengals jerseys that I had seen. The stripes were same on the left and right, but they were NOT flipped like the others.

Do you see what I mean?

The front stripes on the left and right are the same and also the back left/right match each other. So I started thinking, was this jersey game issued, worn, or even real. I couldn't video match it to any games as of yet and I'm beginning to think that there's something fishy going on with this one. Everything else matches up right: the right size (48), label (Koch and Russell), and font (block)... but not the same stripe style as the others.

So here's my question: Is there anyone out there who owns or has seen a photo of a verified Bengal jersey with the same fantom style as the one I'm explaining with this jersey? Also, if anyone could let me know what the color is of the inside stripes when you put the jersey inside out. This is what I think is typical:

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on my issue.

Interesting, indeed. I would love to get my hands on some Bengal stuff from that era. But obviously, I would not want to get burned. I'd like to be in touch with you and better understand things to be careful of.

Anytime. I would be happy to help with what I can. Like I said, after going through A LOT of old bengals games on DVD's, I've picked up a few details some may not be aware of.
It's kinda fun to go through and video match the stripes since they are so easy and unique to each individual jersey. On the popular players I can almost guarantee a verified match just from the stripes alone!
