Ebay currently has a 68 A's jersey listed. It shows number 49. I can't seem to find who had that number. Any ideas?

Thanks

In 1968, #49 was issued to a spring training hopeful (Bill McAnulty) who never made the team.

Keep in mind, though, that Oakland wore those jerseys in spring training past the '68 season, all the way through to 1971. For the other three years in that span, the number was issued to an ex-MLBer trying to get back to the bigs (Joe Nissek in 1969) and two players who were cut in spring training, but went on to brief, unspecatcular MLB careers (Dwain Anderson in 1970 and Gonzalo Marquez in 1971).

The size of the jersey may help narrow things down.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Dave. How did you find the reference to the player?

I should have mentioned this in my original post (brain fart!:o )

The identifications were obtained from the respective years' Street & Smith yearbooks, with the spring rosters that carried great detail back then, unlike the 1980s-present.
