Bidders beware...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220817605179&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Note the #19 on the knob. Also if you enlarge and blow up the tiny PSA letter, it looks like Taube says bat used by Matt Pagnozzi. Seller seems to have overlooked that in the title and description.

I'm guessing thats why its only a PSA 6.

The seller did confirm to me that the LOA states they believe it was also used by Pagnozzi.

i'm currently bidding on this bat....and although it does say 'also used by pagnozzi'...that means it was 'also' used by albert. just look at the characteristics of the bat itself-matches every other pujols gamer and then some! don't about you guys, but if i win this, i'll be stoked!!!

Bat is back up on ebay, good thing I saw this thread....figured it had to be too good to be true.

He lost about $600 on it.

Let's hope next time we see it the seller at least posts all the information! The first seller kept telling me that the fact it appeared used by a common player has no bearing to true bat collectors. I have over 200 bats of varying worth in my room, I feel that makes me a collector, and I sorta consider who actually used the bat to be important.

The bat likely was used by Nick Stavinoha, who also wore #19 that season and is known to have used Pujols' Gwynn-finished Marucci bats (I noted a specific instance on 5/17/09). When Pagnozzi debuted later in 2009, he used an ash Louisville Slugger (he didn't used Marucci until 2010, and it was his personal model). Regardless of which player used it, I'd be surprised if Albert also used it. If it ended up in someone else's hands, that probably means Albert didn't like it well enough to use it himself.

Looks like there's another one of those Pujols/Pagnozzi bat up by
MVP.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Albert-Pujols-Signed-2009-Game-Used-Marucci-Baseball-Bat-Cardinals-MVP-/250889602005?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6a2f83d5

Knowing Mario of MVP to be a reputable seller who I've had some dealings
with in the past, I'm quite surprised he doesn't include some important
information about Pagnozzi in the description. He does include all the
necessary photographs. Not sure if this is meant to protect himself
in the event a buyer who overlooked the pictures later complains
(the old "I wasn't hiding anything" defense)but either way he's a playing
in a gray area where there's potential to ruin his reputation. The Pujols
letter is only for the signature. We've all seen the Pujols bats where
he inscribed "GU" so it makes me wonder if he only added "GU" to HIS actual
game used bats.

Although I've been doing some research on Pujols so that I can add a bat
to my collection, I can't comment as to whether or not Pujols used this
bat but I'm sure most people, including myself, would want full disclosure
about an item before they dropped a couple grand.

If you've dealt with him before, ask him about this. When I asked about the first bat, he told me it showed all of Albert's characteristics, and therefore "additional" use by another player is immaterial. As a bat collector, I strongly disagree. Either way, I abhor sellers who purposefully hide information. It's like dealing with my students: No, it's not a lie, but it's also not telling the whole truth.

When I asked about the first bat, he told me it showed all of Albert's characteristics

This particular bat displays the very OPPOSITE of Albert's pine tar 'characteristics'. Albert applies pine tar to the centerbrand area and keeps the grip area clean. In 11 years, he has never varied from this characteristic (even when he increased the amount of pine tar he applies beginning in mid 2008).

This bat, by contrast, features pine tar in the grip area and a clean centerbrand. You be the judge.

And don’t be misled by the 'Certificate of Authenticity'. This bat did not originate with the Pujols Family Foundation and they have no connection to it whatsoever.

If it were "immaterial" it would have been disclosed in the description.
It was conveniently left out for obvious reasons.
PSA/DNA letter states, its in their opinion, that Pagnozzi used the bat
and never does it mention that they think Pujols used it as well. So it
looks like its a Pagnozzi game used bat with points deducted for not
being a bat ordered by the respective player.

In any case, I personally wish I never came across this bat.
I used to trust Mario but now I don't after reading these posts.
Its deception, no matter how you look at it. Looks like he's pulling out tricks
he may have learned at ASI and ESM. Hope he reads this thread and changes his description for the sake of his reputation.

Just to be clear, I don't think any authenticators word is the
be all, end all when it comes to an item's authenticity and that my
main problem here is the fact that major issues with the bat are not
disclosed.

I am thoroughly disappointed in this seller. Here is a reply from him:

"PSA states in the letter that the bat shows Albert's characteristic and they believe he used it. I am selling it as the bat stands and with the authentication provided and stating exactly what the paperwork says."

1) Nowhere does it say anything about Albert actually using the bat
2) It seems to me, and others who have posted here, that he is actually saying the opposite of what the paperwork says.
