Whatever the manufacturer, Cubs knits are known for their detailed collar strip tags, which normally include the year, set, uniform number and size (not in that order).
Submiited for your perusal is a Cubs strip tag, on a perfectly legitimate team-sourced Cubs Tony Muser gamer, with the year missing:

For unknown reasons, most (though not all) of Russell's 1993 Cubs gamers came with the strip tag omitting the year. This is one oddball variation which, for '93, is perfectly acceptable.
