Gehring is an established collector whose vast treasure accumulation was written about during the days of the strike (August 25, 1981) in the Pennsylvania newspaper, The Evening Sun. He collected just about everything and acquired many items directly from the teams and players themselves. This collection also will include mementos from Gehring - i.e. his National Association of Umpires membership card, a signed Joe Brickman umpire school handout to Gehring, a Bill White signed note with newsclipping and a Cardinals envelope.
