A few question for the bat experts.

When a bat is made by Louisville Slugger and they stamp the date on the knob, how long before the bat arrives to the player?

I have a Magglio bat that has the date of 5/5/11 and I think I've photo matched the bat but the photo was taken on the same day the bat was stamped with the date. Is this possible? The picture has the same markings and everything.

Is it possible for a player to have a bat on the same day it was made?

thanks for your help.

BMH has stated before that bats have been hand-delivered right after being made, so it's a possibility, but I wouldn't be confident on it until the photomatch is confirmed.

Usually I notice players using their bats around a week after their production at the earliest, but it always differs.

Depends if he was playing in Cinci, it's the only place bats we hand deliver. Most of the time, if it's not an overnight job we ship regular UPS.

No problem, let me shoot a photo of the bat and look for the getty image.

Give me a day or so.

Thanks

Here you go, here is the photo I found on Getty. It was taken on 5/5/11 and here is the bat.

If you take a look at the barrel of both pictures it has the same black marks, the only difference is the small amount of pine tar in the getty picture. The bat I have doesn't have any.

Can you take a photo at the same angle as the Getty photo for comparison. Make it a diagonal long shot of your bat to match this photo attached, the barrel of the bat on the top left hand side of the photo. It makes it easier to compare.

It looks as if the ball marks on your bat come from the logo of Minor League baseballs.

one thing that strikes me is the markings are a label up RH hitter but he is swinging that bat label down in the pic and most players don't change that habit.

The pine tar around the logo doesn't match either IMO. Might be a similar marking that is left on all the bats by the bat weight while in the on deck circle.
