Can anybody please help me with dating this bat? It has the smaller Louisville label but the 125 is large. It has a trademark on the model number instead of by the Louisville Slugger under the name. I'm not sure what year this comes from. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry to disagree, but this bat dates directly to 1983, which was a transition year. If it has the small label, but large 125, it's 1983. As for the trademark by the S2, I've seen it before but don't know if it has any significance.

it means that the model S2 was trademarked during that bat label period.

I was just making an educated guess based off the chart. There was a lot of room for error in my guess because I don't know that much about the labeling.

let me correct that.

to have only 2 model numbers from players starting with the letter S since 1983 doesn't make sense to me, so probably just means that model is trademarked bat model of LVS. I dont think the model S2 was available only since 1983.

I believe this reference is a better source and was asked for feedback from GUU members. Birdbats is also an active GUU member.
