Re: Former player listing cool items on eBay
Thought it was neat too. But did you notice that a couple of his bats (that appear to have no use) say stuff like "1st hit as a Cincinnati Red, opening day 1969, 1st pitch homerun off now HOF'er Don Drysdale...Bat is practically brand new doesnt show any marks on it, retired it after the homerun as a cincinnati red."
He also "retired" his 1970 world series bat and his 1st HR bat. Seems a little unlikely to me.

Re: Former player listing cool items on eBay
Tom,
Why can't he stop using his first homerun bats. I'm sure alot of players have stop using their bat after hitting number 1.Comment

Re: Former player listing cool items on eBay
It's possible. But he describes them as practically brand new. So these bats never made any other contact with a ball? bat rack? dirt? etc.? And he doesn't mention any markings. So he just remembers which bat was which? Or is it more likely that he embellished the description?Comment

Re: Former player listing cool items on eBay
Was curious if those jerseys on Ebay recently were actual Orioles issued or if they were from his days with the 1988 Erie Orioles. He posted a back photo of the road jersey, which looks more Like Baltimore issue, rather then Erie. The Erie jersey numbers were much lower (see photo). It doesn't appear that Erie got recycled Orioles jerseys, but they look awfully similar?Comment

Also the 125 looks to be underlined. This auction and his other ones seem shady. Maybe the seller is hard up for cash and is now reducing morale to meet those needs?Comment

Re: Former player listing cool items on eBay
"I hit back to back homeruns with this bat, second time i did this in my career."
According to www.baseball-reference.com, the first time he hit back-to-back HR was 7/13/74 against Steve Rogers. The second time he did it was 7/17/74 against Philadelphia (Lonborg and Watt).

Re: Former player listing cool items on eBay
I sent him a message stating that the bat labeling appears to be from a newer bat. He responded
the labels today say louisville slugger in the middle, the earlier models says Hillerich and bradsby in the middle.

I responded about the trademark R after Louisville Slugger and I haven't heard back from him.
In his earlier auctions it also looks like his 1966 and 1969 bats have the R after Louisville Slugger.Comment
