View Full Version : Who has the coolest PC Website?

Who has the best out there? Content of collection would be great but I'm also looking for style points (design of website) and setup. I've seen 2 that I really enjoy and are worth mentioning. Would love to see an NFL PC displayed on a website.

The Curt Schilling Collection
http://www.curtschillingcollector.com/gameusedcollection.html

Jeff Bagwell PC
http://bagwellgameused.com/

Was thinking of creating a website myself to show off the collection to a wide range of interested individuals and let people know what my wants are. With the amount of money we spend on game used stuff I was thinking it would only take a drop in the hat to put up a website to show off the pricey collections out there. I was looking into some free blog sites if it was possible to do that as well.

Like gameused authentics but some of the players featured on that site didn't have pictures of the game used like Brady and Manning. This guy has some money to throw around!

I have my game used listed on my website. Over 100 jerseys. Not of a specifc player but players that attended Lewis-Clark State.

Thanks for the kind words and appreciation.....there really is a lot of time as well as enjoyment involved..... although unfortunately I'm stuck with a budget too.

Without the GREAT GUYS and GALS on this forum who have allowed me to finance their jerseys for insane amounts of time and trade....sell.....trade.....sell....I couldn't have pulled it all together over the last 10 years!

Unfortunately, I can never find enough time to post shots of every Jersey, but I'm always trying to catch up and a have always emailed photos to anyone who ever asked.:)

Kyle - It looks great. It gives a good historic narrative and photos for each item.

The Tigers pitching rubber with the history behind it, the Aroldis Chapman speed record, the Jeter "caught" broken bat, etc.

For those creative types, you can photo collage your collections onto a video and upload with background music and special effects to YouTube.

I did a real simple football photo/video on Microsoft Video software and then couldn't figure out how to upload it so one of these days! Wish I could show it to you all as it is very cool.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing! Some of these websites look like there was a lot of time spent on them. The Austin Jackson and Kyle's look professionally done. Did yall pay for someone to do it or did yall do it yourselves?

Jeff Bagwell PC
http://bagwellgameused.com/

I haven't been near a computer for the past couple days, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate the mention. The Bagwell site has been a few years in the works, and I am always trying to update it with new acquisitions. I know websites can be hard to maintain, but they are a great way to express one's love of collecting a particular player, style of glove, etc.

One caveat: If you do a site dedicated to a particular player, you might get some strange reactions from those you know who aren't as into the hobby. For instance, I've heard more than once that my Bagwell website is stalker-esque. Some don't understand that I am just a fan but nothing more. In short, that I'm not looking to acquire Jeff Bagwell himself. :p  :o

was there a specific page on the website or item in your collection that gave them that idea or just a general sense of dedicating a website to one player.

personally i don't see it, but was curious why.

It wasn't necessarily a specific page or item AFAIK. It was more the thought of collecting so much stuff from one player; it seemed kind of creepy to them. Like I needed to own everything Bagwell wore or used in an MLB game, and so that meant I would own anything used by him. I sometimes get asked if I would own his jock and cup, sliding shorts, and underwear. I also think part of it was my gender. They thought the site meant that I wanted something romantic with him, when I have absolutely no interest in dating a ballplayer. FWIW, these aren't people who frequent GUU.

Oh wow. My mistake. Was that you in the website? For some reason I thought that was your daughter or something and didn't really read the captions. It's great that there are female collectors out there. It's a shame that some people might think one is a "stalker". I PC a player as well and have thought about what some people might think about exclusively collecting 1 player's stuff. I'm married and have 2 kids but when I talk about my favorite player at work they give me a good ribbing about my "man crush". I may have to diversify my collection lol!

Some great collections!

I think that the Austin Jackson and the Carlos Zambrano collections are amazing! Tons of items and the variety of different items is awesome!

However, since I am a lifelong Astros fan and collector, Frik's Bagwell website is one that I frequent often.

Mine was free through Wordpress.com. However, you have to pay yearly for both the web address and the domain mapping, as well as for certain upgrades. I would not recommend WP if you aren't already familiar with it. I had some experience with the format from making a political site, so I just went with it. It looks like webs.com might be easier to use.

Very nice sites. I am also in the process of building a site, actually planning stages. I have already secured a domain name, but don't have a page yet. I ended up getting my domain name via yahoo, but don't like there basic web page packages and don't want to pay their $$ for upgraded package (I thought it was somewhat expensive). I have about 40+ GU jerseys which I want to profile with photos and descriptions. I will end up spending some money, but at least it will be a site I will be happy with.

I don't think there is a problem with it. I've had mine in my signature for a few years.

Well, I have updated the GU Resources and Collectors pages, taking about a few of the dead sites and adding all that are in this thread. If I have added yours and would prefer it not be there, let me know and I will take it down.

Thanks.

I had my website removed from my signature once without an explanation....Although I see others, I no longer post it with my signature.

I posted a link in a classified thread yesterday to show photos to Preston who had asked to see photos of 2 specific Jerseys I had posted. My response and link to him was deleted, but no one explained why?

In both cases, I just assumed that I had broken a forum rule.....so I'm not really sure what the policy is?

I was using freewebs for about 8 years until I started using Wix. I liked the templates more. I have a paid account for my photography site and it allows me to have an extra site with plenty of storage for my game used site. I think it's like $10 a month for a premium account, but it'll be more soon once I renew my domain name. It's definitely worth it for anybody who has ever had interest in Wix.
