To illustrate my point about the Orioles wearing 1988 "EBW" jersey's in 1989 Spring Training, here is a wire photo dated 03/27/89 which depicts Cal Ripken Jr. in game action vs. Houston (you can see the "E" on his left sleeve):
Ok, that supports the fact the Birds wore their 1988 game jerseys during spring training 1989, which was pretty common during the 80s. I find it interesting to see newly acquired players in various cards and yearbooks wearing a previous year (or older) uniform. Examples would be the players in the 1982 White Sox yearbook wearing the "Veeck" style uniforms and players in the 1983 Oakland A's yearbook wearing "Finely" era uniforms. These photos were obviously taken during spring training. As for a cards, I have seen a 1989 Upper Deck card featuring Lance Parrish wearing the pre 1989 Angles uniform in a game. He did join the Angels until after the 1988 season. So it supports the fact that the Angels, like many teams, wore their 1988 or older uni's in spring training. Makes sense, most teams want to showcase new style uniforms for opening day. I think the Red Sox did the same in 1979?
