I recently picked up a 1986 Orioles home jersey and noticed that it was lacking the Rawlings script on the sleeve. I thought Rawlings had this on all their jerseys beginning in 1986, either stitched directly in or added as a small patch. This particular jersey has a 1986 Set 1 tag.

Thanks

Bob,

I have seen cases where the Rawlings script began appearing in 1987, not 1986. Not sure what they did for all teams they manufactured jerseys for... or it could be a running change during the 1986 season, where the set 1's would already be out there and without the script.

I forgot to mention... the small patch Rawlings script logos are only on Minor League gamers.

jersey appears to be the Bobby Tolan jersey that was on eBay....Tolan was a low level minor league manager with the Orioles for one season (perhaps two)....I almost purchased it thinking it may be a name or number change associated with it (and not originally Tolan's) from a regular season player

FWIW the Orioles player who wore #28 in 1986 was the "whammer," Jim Traber (6 feet; 215 lbs).....Is there any name or # change evident on jersey?

The Rawlings sleeve script began in MLB in 1987, as that was the season the 5-year Rawlings MLB uniform contract began.
