For all you baseball experts please give your opinions on this Nolan Ryan gamer. If you all feel it is real I am going to do everything possible to add it to my collection..........

Dr. Loomis,

I believe this jersey to be very real. A Ryan family member told me the story of the 36 jerseys made for his final season, one for every start - 18 home white and 18 road grey back in the early 2000s when I acquired a road grey and a home white from 1993. What is not known is if he stuck to one per start or if he reused a jersey. There is also question on wheteher he wore them in order. I have a strong reason to believe he did not wear them in order because of some characteristics of one of the gamers I own.

Thanks,

I am in full agreement with Chris' assesment. The only thing I can add is that this jersey would have to have been worn by Ryan prior to 8/22/93. That day, Harrell Edmons Chiles (Eddie) died, and an HEC memoriam logo was added to the right sleeve after that.

Dr L -

This is the tagging I mentioned in the post about the JO GU Ryan jersey and the S/N jerseys for his final season.

Heritage sold one that was number 8/18. The button locations seem to align the same as the one in the Sanders Auction.

It also seems that Legendary auctioned the same jersey in the Sanders auction in 2002.

One sold for $15,000 and the other around $2000? That is a big difference for similar jerseys.

Joel, I theorize that having a letter from Ryan greatly aided in that jersey bringing 15K.....no?

I didn't notice that. Is a letter worth $13,000?
