I'm sure that for you jersey collectors there was a time when you said, "I have to have that patch." Then you went out and bought a jersey - or multiple jerseys - with it on the sleeve or wherever else it was located. Please share your favorite patches along with reasons for liking them so much.

My own favorite (though I don't have a photo right now to share) is the 1968 Illinois Sesquicentennial patch. It was worn by both the Cubs and White Sox in '68 to celebrate Illinois' 150th year of statehood. From my youth, for my state, both Chicao MLB teams...it's a unique combination that I enjoy.

Mine would be the 1994 Jacksonville Suns 25th Anniversary Patch just because the patch was woven into the sleeve instead of being a pitch in and of itself. Make its harder to fake.

49ers 40th anniversary-worn on their game pants. Pants with the original patch are quite rare as the team recycled pants.

SF Giants 40th year in SF

NFL 75th Anniversary

1998 Pro Bowl

2000 Seahawks 25th year patch

2005 Mexico City game

I have always liked baseball jersey patches. I have stopped myself from collecting patch jerseys I like so that I can concentrate on football. I guess I could always buy common player shirts with the patch.

Always buying 49er gamers and paying a finders fee. Buying ALL and ANY 1994 49er GU items and paying an absolute premium for such items!

That's a really well-design patch, and what an awesome experience attending the All-Star Game must be. When it was in Seattle in 2001, I went to the HR Derby and to FanFest. Pretty cool stuff. :D

The teal one was worn by the Marlins. Here is a picture of Bobby Bonilla during Game #6 of the World Series versus the Cleveland Indians

The French one was worn by Les Expos de Montreal (I want to say maybe just at home? Expos collectors )

The Dodgers got their own because Jackie was their player.

The 4th one is the one every other team wore.

NY Giants Spider patch worn in 1986 for fallen DB "Spider" Lockhart

The very simple #16 patch only worn by dignitaries for Trevor Linden Retirement Night. Never produced for public sale and not even worn by the team that night (as most teams do) due to the humble nature of Trevor Linden. The jerseys sold on NHL Auctions with 100% of the winning bids going to one of the 7 different charities he donates countless time and resources to. I am the proud owner of the jersey in the picture worn by Greg Adams who scored in double overtime against the Toronto Maple Leafs send the Nucks to the Finals in 1994.

It's one of mine, albeit only a minor league jersey. The patch is especially cool because it is so thick and nothing like modern patches.

Rather unique are the 1982-83 White Sox All-Star game patches. I can't provide a close-up of a genuine version, but the red and unbordered examples on eBay right now are all replicas.

Anyway, being the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first All-Star game (held in the original Comiskey Park in 1933), the Sox not only wore the patch all of 1983, but for the final 3 months or so of 1982, after the '82 event, as shown on this 1983 Topps card of Sparky Lyle, a late-season pickup for the Chisox in 1982.
