I recently received my Mears authentication for these itms so I just though I would share them. Some of you may be familiar with the Ryan bronze hands that were made by Bronze Memories in the 80's. Well, my first item is from a hand molding session he did before that in 1986. It was done by Robin and Paul Noll of Mission Studios. What I have is the one and only cast that was applied to his hand! from what I have read on the BM casting, it was done differently and there was no mold left. This could be the only on of its kind! The black rubber was applied to his hand, then the plaster cast was applied over that. While removing the hardened ruber, over a dozen of his arm hairs were stuck and pulled out...still in the rubber. My friends say that is grose, but it is Nolan Ryan and I think it is awesome lol! Nolan signed it after the molding in 1986, but it was not very visible. I had him sign it again as the Rangers HOF weekend this year.
During that session, they also made a casting of his face (only time I know of this being done of Ryan). One of them hangs in the MLB HOF. For the session, they asked that he supply his own cap. After the session, the hat was not in wearable condition so Nolan allowed them to keep it. I had him sign it for me in 2010 and asked that he inscribe it as being the cap he wore that day. He said he rememberd the session and that he supplied the cap, but he nicely said he would be glad to inscribe it for me at a later date if I could get it matched and authenticated by a well known authenticator.
Im only putting a few pics on here, but once you compaire unique stitching patterns, flaws and other unique features with the cap, pics and the final (very detailed ) face/cap mold, it only takes seconds to know beyond the shoddow of a doubt that it is 100% legit. I only have one pic of him with the cast on, but again, it mathes perfectly! I am an aquaintance of the Nolls and after many conversations and e-mails, I finally convinced them that they would have a good home with me. I also have the first mold that was made from the original face cast. They used it to do the clay work to form the hair for the final mold. It also matched perfectly!
I know they are completely legit, but I want Nolan to inscribe them for me so I got Mears to photomatch and authenticate them all for me. It also kind of helps others to see a legit certification. Well, I hope someone else out there appreciates these as much as I do. I look forward to seeing more awesome Ryan items on here!
