Game Used Glove Question

I just bought a beautiful old beat-up Henry Rodriguez glove from his Cubs days. It's a Rawlings but the labels have been blacked out. I have other gloves where the label has been similarly cut-out or blocked out. Why?

Two quick answers...

First, perhaps they don't have an equipment contract with the maker of that particular glove and want to still be able to use it (normally cut out).

The other reason, sometimes people don't like having an advertisment on their gear/clothes. He blacked it out so people couldn't tell.
