A word of advice for those new to memorabilia sales: pricing is often set pretty high, and sellers may be willing to come way down. I once saw two old baseball books set at $160. When I showed interest but said I didn't have that much on hand, he immediately dropped the price to $70. I paid it and found pencil markings suggesting he had paid $35 for both books.

I bought a couple of batting-order cards ( one quite old and rare) for $100 after the seller had come down from $175. And I bought an autographed copy of Jimmy Carter's Nobel Prize speech for $12 from the Carter Presidential Center. I had earlier passed up the same item at a show for $60, after the seller had presumably paid the same $12 I had.

So the let the buyer ( especially an inexperienced one) beware! And don't fear to negotiate, especially late in the day.
