Not an expert on Spalding bats but I thought I had read somewhere that if the players name is in script (signature) that it was a store model bat. The non-signature models (players name block letter stamped) were more inclined to be professional model bats if used in the early 1900's.

I had seen that too, however there are several credible articles that state Keeler store bats were not made to 30.5 inches, and the ones sold at auction (http://www.lelands.com/auction/Aucti...-%28PSA-GU8%29) appear to look just like the one on ebay.Comment

I'm sure the guy has a high estimate. I sent him the link to one selling for only $8,000 but he doesn't post anything about that one. So Im sure they think it worth's the 70k the other one sold for.Comment

I agree, i dont think it'll sell, i bet the reserve is too high. Last one sold for around 8,500 with premiums. I'd say a realistic ebay value is around 6,500-8000. I'd guess the reserve is well over that. I dont know how that first one reached 70k.Thanks,

Just curious to know the sources regarding bat length. I have a 30.5" Spalding Gold Medal Keeler with Spalding stampings on both ends. Always assumed with the stampings it's a store model.Comment
