Great pic Jimmie!

It was definitely a blast yesterday, and an awesome experience not having to worry about getting in trouble with the length of my lens for once :D

I don't have a lot finished, but I have some pics up already on Flickr, but more to come soon!

Glad to see you passion being applied. You deserve it.

Do the photos you take now belong to the Brave org or you?

Technically both - I can print them and use them for my portfolio but I can't sell them or make money off them in any way.

I'm sorry, but that photo is a style match at best. Without seeing the face that could be anyone. How can we tell that person is THE Kyle Hess.

Just Kidding.

Congrats on the new gig, Kyle!

Congrats Kyle! Just remember to take extra memory sticks, because I know you will be snapping anything and everything. Be sure to get lots of pics of the kids when they do the pre-game stuff and other special things.

Wow. Saw your website and it's very clean. I personally would love to be a photographer for football. Any tips? How did you manage to get hooked up with the Braves? Did you have any connections?

As a fellow Braves fan and a friend Kyle, I can honestly say your job was garnered by skill and accomplishment and so richly deserved. With any luck the Braves will see you as so many of us here on GUU do, the next Walter Iooss Jr.

this is awesome. Something I should look into for the Potomac Nationals (my closest minor league team).

I knew the Triple-A team hires interns every year so I e-mailed the media relations manager before they even started posting about it on their website, so they called me in for an interview and I showed them my best work which got me the job.

I never shot football before but from what I've seen, the NFL photographers always need reallyyyy good lenses, such as a 500mm f/4, 600mm f/4, etc., so it's definitely something you'd have to invest in a lot. You need more focal length in your lenses since you're pretty far from the action, unlike what you see in MLB where you're up close for most of the action. Also I notice most NFL photographers are Canon users, and I see a lot of 5D Mark II's being used. I don't know too much about Canon, but that's definitely a great camera to use for sports photographers that shoot Canon.
