Vince Carter UNC Jersey on ebay (Fleer COA)

Posting this here will no doubt give me some competition, but I wanted to see what your opinions were on this. It says it comes from the Fleer Bankruptcy auction, and the COA seems like it was printed by Dave and Adams Card World and has nothing to do with Fleer itself. The lettering and numbering looks darker than usual. Any thoughts?

I can't talk about the jersey authenticity, but I will say I lived in Buffalo and dealt with "Dave and Adams" as the seller notes as the original seller of the jersey. In the past they sold many Fleer COA'd items as well. I have had good experiences with them, but they have dealt more in sports cards and autographs than game used items.

Not sure that helps, but figured a little insight would help.
    Cheers,
    Jack

I think Dave and Adam's is a legit outfit. They've been around for a long time.

Also, Adam and Dave's is one of the big trading card/box/cases wholesalers and probably has licenses with all the card manufacturers. It would be consistent that they would have procured stuff from Fleers bankruptcy auction.

Further info. I just got a pdf copy of the 2005 Fleer Bankruptcy Auction lot list and Lot 415 included a Vince Carter North Carolina Game and Practice jerseys, and Dave and Adam's has Carter NC practice jerseys on their site.

Vince left UNC before the Heels wore this style. Check Getty and look at the neck trim (with the team logo at the base of the V).
Always looking for top NBA game worn items of superstar and Hall-of-Fame-caliber players (especially Kobe, LeBron, MJ, Curry and Durant). Also looking for game worn items of all players from special events (e.g., All Star Game, NBA Finals, milestone games, etc.). Please contact me at gameusedequip2@hotmail.com. Thank you.

Yeah, you're right. It looks like they started wearing this the 1998-99 season, the year after Carter left. Hmm...

I attend the Fleer auction for 2-3 hours. The stuff went for ridiculous prices. Fleer was not a very good company IMO.

So you think this is an out and out fake from Fleer?

I assume Carter was not the last player to wear #15.

Was his college uni number reissued? If so, for how long?

Kenny White wore it in 1999-00, Damien Price wore it from 2001-04, and Charlie Everett after that. But the style of jersey in the auction was only worn in the 1998-99 season, and no player had that number then.

It's a salesman sample. And it appears that the COA was created by D&A, not Fleer. You should contact D&A (http://www.dacardworld.com/) to confirm. The jersey has been on eBay a few times (with a low BIN price) with no takers.

I did call. Basically the guy said they bought it in the Fleer Auction and had no further information than that. I might try to reach out to Dave or Adam themselves for some info.
