The Yankees plan to play at least the upcoming series against the Red Sox in Boston with a nod towards the esteemed ballpark's 100th anniversary.

The TBTC style is based on the 1912 New York Highlanders uniform. The Highlanders were rechristened the Yankees in 1913.

Wow the tradiotionalists break there tradition and wear a throwback! I'm shocked. The hat looks really good if I do say so myself.

P.S The steelers will be wearing there "Jail bird" throwbacks this year as well.

I've never seen one of those on the market. Has anyone seen one for sale?

The Red Sox did the 1912 uniform thing, also, as this photo of David Ortiz shows:

A very unique detail: the retro Yankees/Highlanders and Red Sox jerseys carried no numbers on the backs, in keeping with authentic 1912 uniform design.

The jerseys were great. Only thing I was disapointed in the ceremony jerseys. They were Majestic replicas. I would have loved the tagging to have todays date with Red Sox 100th ceremony.

I thought these were worn in 95?? There was a uniform on ebay, jersey and pants, a couple of years ago. The player I think was Scott Kamienicki (sp?) The price was 900. It didnt sell, but was never relisted. It came with a Yankees COA as they all should.

Maybe the guy posted the info on another message board. He said it was 96 and they played the Detroit Tigers. But he could be mistaken. It does seem like a rare item.I never seen any for sale.

The Yankees have only worn alternate jerseys 2 times. Yesterday and in 96 to commemorate the Negro Leagues.

I was browsing thru some old Grey Flannel catalogs and found another example of the 1996 Negro League throwback that the Yankees wore on June 8th, 1996.

In the "Fall Classic 2000" Lot #709 on page 178 is listed:
Joe Torre Negro League Throwback including jersey, pants and hat-all signed and accompanied by a Yankees LOA.

I will post an image once I take one.
