The person I received the Bill Simpson Bills jersey from has a 1972 George Webster Oiler jersey I would love to add to my MSU alumni collection. Name plate has been removed. Any idea on value? I want to pay a fair price but not overpay if possible. Thanks!

I'd love to see pics.... I believe it is a Sand Knit? Home blue would probably be worth a little more than the away white. Amount of use?

Right now BE Collectables has a 1973 Paul Guidry Oilers uniform on eBay, which was made by Champion (I think the Oilers switched suppliers at least once or twice during the 1970s)....

To me the number 90 looks like a legit 1970s Oilers top, but I'm trying to locate more game photos from 1972. I think the style of the shirt, with screened light blue numbers, may have been first used in 1973, the year after Webster left. Before 1973, I believe the numbers were more of a blue/silver color, and the numbers were usually sewn on (Ken Houston photo below).

I may have found a picture of Ken Houston wearing a jersey with lighter blue (and possibly screened) numbers prior to 1973 (also below), but the real key is the sleeve stripes... I believe the pattern of the #90 jersey with the blue sleeve stripe in the middle was used from 1973 on. Prior to that, all I am seeing is the red stripe in the middle, with blue ones above and below.

The Oilers are not my forte, so maybe someone else would have more to add.... The Oilers were notorious for having inconsistencies with their uniforms throughout the whole decade, but like I said, a good start would be finding evidence that this order of sleeve stripe colors and screened light blue numbers were used prior to 1973.

THanks for the info! I also noticed the BE has XL where this one had a numbered size? I will search for 1972 photos with those sleeves, but thanks for pointing out it may be a 1973!!
