My brother who is always looking out for me called me this morning and said that he was at an auction with some baseball stuff and wanted to know if I was interested....of course as always I said YES. Anyway he picked all this stuff up for me for a whopping $29. The gloves are Marathon Johnny Hopp model which is I think pretty rare -and a bonus for me since he is a fellow Nebraskan, the other glove is a Lawlor's Sporting Goods glove which is also special to me since it's a local glove from a defunct store, and one I've never seen before....I do have a Babe Ruth LS125 bat with a Lawlor's sticker on it. The catcher's or umpire's mask? is a Wilson. Not sure if the chest protector is an umpire's or catcher's??? and that's my question for the experts.....oh yeah the pennant is very old (take my word for it )...not sure if it's baseball related, but it is to me.

Re: Today's Auction Pickups -and a question
First of all, you need to buy your brother a case of beer every time he hooks you up (which is a lot...ha ha). The equipment is probably catchers gear. Most of the umpire masks (even early versions) have throat guards. They probably date from the 40s considering the mask design and the absence of padding that would go between the legs of the catcher on the chest protector. That is an early pennant, very cool.Mike H
