They are, I just spoke with their rep today and he confirmed that they have them. I am not sure how other members are getting or not getting them but Highland Mint confirmed they will handle them.

Highland handled them last year and offered them again this year at least in a "reserve" sense so far.

07-03-2012, 04:09 AM
HM handles the jerseys every year. The rep I've been dealing with since 2008 informed me last night that the meeting with MLB is taking place Tuesday (today). He will then have a list of who is still available and who is reserved. I wouldn't put too much stock into the whole " I have ### reserved until the game is over and MLB actually gets the jerseys in hand. I have a number of players reserved, doesn't mean I'm going to get them.

I wanted to give some members on here a heads up like I did last year. Dach0sen0ne didn't you get a Prince last year after I sent you the info? I'm pretty sure that was you.

If you are a HM customer that actually buys high end stuff from them, they will take care of you and make sure you get the players you are looking for.

I've seen these jerseys go from 995-2k just depending on the player. So watch out for the guys on here in a few weeks that scored a jersey for 995 and try to flip it on the board or on ebay for 6k!!

They should also have a few nameplates/locker tags in again. I'll let everyone know who they have left. Here is a few items I've picked up from HM. Draft card, NP and G/U BP jersey. Excellent framing!!!

Just some shots of some GU Warmup jerseys I have from previous years (all MLB Auth.) This has been posted here before, but there are 3 each of the all star warmup jerseys made and tagged by MLB. One is worn by the player at the homerun derby and workout day and is labeled as such in the database. One is worn by the player on gameday for BP and tagged as such. The other is signed and listed as autographed in the data base but not as used or worn. One of the worn ones is sold through MLB as the OP is discussing. The other worn one is cut up for cards. The autographed one is sold at auction for charity but is not worn by the player.

2011 Gio Gonzalez, Russell Martin, Ryan Braun, Gaby Sanchez all from workout day/HR derby

Very Very Very useful information. Thanks for breaking it down. I only thought 2 jerseys were issued to the player. Good to know only 2 are "worn"

How does the MLB choose which worn jersey is sold to a buyer and which goes to card companies?

Also, isn't there another jersey that's issued for the players to keep? Or is that technically not an issued jersey?

mdube16

As I understand it, the last few years the card companies got the gameday BP jersey and MLB sold the HR Derby one. Since my 2010 JJ jersey is from the gameday its obvioulsy not a firm rule.

The players dont take home a jersey (or at least they arent supposed to although i understand it happens) They are truly only issued 2 of these. I think the ones they sign for the charity deal are kept elsewhere. Here is a shot of the NL locker room from 2012 and you can see just 2 jerseys hanginging in each players locker (one on each side)

Thanks for all that information; it is very helpful. What, then, explains the following item on MLB.com Auctions: Josh Hamilton game used BP jersey (http://auction.mlb.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=188397790&prmenbr=33072944&aunbr=188744500)?

My contact at The Highland Mint says that last year they sold one of Hamilton's All-Star Game jerseys.

And a quick search on eBay reveals the following game-used ASG swatch: 2011 Topps Update All-Star Hamilton et al. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-topps-update-all-star-triple-relic-josh-hamilton-bautista-cabrera-01-25-/300739770132?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item46057cb714#ht_500wt_922)

If your information is accurate, I'm befuddled by the existence of this other All-Star game used Hamilton jersey.

You know I saw that one too....I am thinking either..
A) the MLB hologram wont state game used but rather just autographed
or
B) its the one that was sold by the Highland Mint that has made it way back to the Alumni association. You will note its not coming from MLB baseball but reads "You are bidding on a used batting practice jersey signed by Josh Hamilton. This item is provided by the Legends Memorabilia Collection of Major League Alumni Marketing ". Since none of the jerseys from the Highland mint are signed and this one is, its possible its either just the signed charity one OR they purchased the used one and Josh signed it. Either way Id love to know what the hologram number reads in the database.

I did a little recon on the MLB database and between FJ744201 and FJ744246 are the ones listed as AUTOGRAPHED (hamilton 744214)

FJ 744247 to 744282 are the derby GU jerseys. (hamilton 744262)

744283 AND 744284 are both Ortiz BP GU

744285 and 286 are hamilton GU cleats
744287 is his cap
744288 AND 744289 are both listed as Hamilton GU allstar jerseys. It doesnt say workout jersey or BP..both say Game Used All star but its possible they are the workout ones.

I didnt find the other gameday BP ones from 2011 as its a bit tedious. Ill be very curious if they answer you back with the numbers to see what it is.

Of interest....ebay seller zanebats has a bunch of the autographed 2011 jerseys from MLB in his ebay store. The holos are all for AUTOGRAPHED and not game used. His ebay description states "Jersey was issued and/or worn during the 2011 All Star Game workout, batting practice, and home run derby". Also has some autographed not worn 09 ones.

Another item of interest: MLB.com Auctions just put up "the second set of uniforms issued to the players by B.A.T (Baseball Assistance Team)."

Here's Bryce Harper's autographed jersey: Harper Auto'd Issued ASG Jersey (http://auction.mlb.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=188892258&prmenbr=33072944&aunbr=189238968).

Upon entering the hologram number in the database, I got nothing. Apparently, these numbers aren't in the computerized system yet.

I'm now wondering just how many jerseys are issued to the players.

This goes along with the information I have that there are 3 of jerseys for each player...2 GU and 1 autographed for charity. I think "second set" refers to it being aside from the GU sets. Should be interested to watch these sales.

Thanks for the pics MDUBE. That is how my 2010 Hamilton looks, except it's a size 50. I obtained it from a friend who outbid me on it at a charity silent auction in Nov. 2010. It was auctioned as game worn.

Mdube, Is your Braun game worn or one of the signed jerseys? I wonder because I have an older ASG jersey that had the tag removed too. The seller had a story to explain it, but I am still skeptical on it. It may shed some light on your Braun though. JP

The Braun was worn on the workout day/HR derby. Its the only one I have with the tag removed so Im thinking its a custom thing he did himself. Also for a shameless plug, its on ebay with a high (but VERY negotiable) BIN OBO

Guys,
Not sure if this was already covered.
Just an FYI -
scratch that sold/unsold list.
I thought I had purchased a particular jersey and was told "not"!
I made an offer and thought it was mine if collected from the player.
It's going to go to the highest bidder on any/all jersey's.

So if you see the list and it says sold, go ahead and up the bid and you may get it.

I don't think this is fair especially for their good clients. But that's MLB and HM getting the most that they can.

I myself thinking a particular one was sold am going to up the bid on a couple of star players I wanted.

Thanks,
Pablo

Before everyone gets excited, that is not true. They are not treating it as an auction, but rather a first come, first serve. The only one that was up for bidding was the Puig jersey, but since he didn't make it, it's a moot point.

Not true as confirmed by my rep.
All jerseys are going to the highest bidder. MLB policy.
I confirmed my right to purchase a jersey and was told in writing that another person was also interested and being the current high bidder I would be given the opportunity to counter offer.

Did you offer something below the asking price? I asked my rep about this and he said that the jersey is marked down as mine (unless the player wants to keep it), but I also had agreed to pay the asking price.

I offered to pay the asking price. Said it was mine and then received a follow up e-mail that I could be outbid on it.
My rep state all jersey's are going to the highest bidder.
Would imagine the Super Star players will be up for the highest bidder.

Not fair at all.

Pablo I know I am right because of the fact that I missed out on the jersey I wanted (Jose Fernandez) and The Natural was my rep. There was no bidding back and forth and so on, just first come, first served. Now this is not to say that what you are saying isn't true simply to acknowledge that my experience (as apparently was that of the two other forum members you mentioned) was different than yours.

All -

I wrote my rep (Jim Bowley) and referred him to this thread and asked about having a jersey 'locked up' or the jerseys all going to highest bidder.

Here is his response:

Generally what we do is offer them out to the folks who bought a particular player previously
If a real hot rookie makes it or something we have no choice really but to give it to the person who offers the most
But we do not generally get involved in that We try our best to get them to you at the best price possible
The only problem we run into is that we have several guys here who work on these and they may beat me to the punch on one but I try hard
I am waiting to see from another rep if the person who bought XXXX last year is going to do so again this year

So the reps are talking to each other.

Thanks for the note.
But it's not just the hot rookie that the highest bid goes to.
I asked about the Cano jersey which had a bid/offer on it for $1,500 and was told if I could up the bid to $2,000 I would then be the highest bidder.
I can send you the e-mail my rep sent me on this.

All -

I just received a note back from my Rep that another Rep had an interested party in the jersey I want before I made my interest known.

I was NOT asked to see if I want to 'out bid' them (Auction). I was told I am next in line if that person decides they don't want the jersey, so everyone is getting told different things.

So they are not ALL 'up for auction to the highest bidder'. If they were, I'm certain I would have been asked how high I wanted to go.

So I spoke to my rep (Steven) again today and basically what has happened is that on a very select few jerseys there was miscommunication between the reps who had multiple buyers on them. This is what has caused some jerseys to not be sold first come, first served. Like I mentioned earlier this was not the case with the jersey I was interested in, but apparently this has happened on some of the big ticket items. Steven assured me that the reps are working to get on the same page so that this does not happen again.

If they want an auction, why don't they just list them on MLB Auctions? My guess is that MLB knows it cannot get as much as they want by auctioning off many of the items, except the superstars where multiple bidders would be interested.

Besides, are these BP jerseys really game "used"? They didn't play a game wearing them.

With the way prices go on MLB Auctions sometimes I would consider the jersey I bought a decent price. I would rather pay what I offered than take a chance.

Yes they are just BP/Homerun Derby jerseys but considering this is the only All Star jersey that the player wears, I would think that makes these BPs a rarity. Especially with the flooding of all these regular season jerseys here lately. Its rare enough that a collectors favorite player even makes the squad.

Mark, I saw 3 jerseys at $400 last week, but I'm not sure they stayed at that price. Balfour's was not one of them. For some reason, his name was together with Colon's, the price was $500 and it was supposedly sold, but I don't know if it meant both Colon & Balfour were sold.

FWIW -

As stated several times here, not ALL jerseys went to the highest bidder.

The jersey I was offered at $500 which I told my rep I wanted turned out to have been offered and accepted by another buyer before my rep told them I wanted it.

I was not asked if I wanted to bid it up, it was simply sold to the 1st person who accepted it at that price.

Smitty,

We understood you the other times.

Do you agree with the process of only some going first come first served and others going to the highest bidder?

Not a good practice.

I guess you got lucky and the one you wanted was not going to the highest bidder.

No Pablo I didn't get lucky. I didn't get the jersey and I wasn't offered a chance to increase my offer.

I picked up the zobrist and would sell it at cost which is listed earlier in this thread, had an unexpected bulk buy opportunity come up that I would need funds for.

Also, to the point of what was posted about Harper switching jerseys. Is this commonplace?

I have long thought that there were 3 total all star jerseys that were made per player

1 - the workout day/HRD jersey or the gameday BP goes to topps for jersey cards
2 - the opposite jersey of #1 gets sold
3 - game issued autographed jersey that supports MLB's BAT program, hunt auctions used to sell them and Grey Flannel sold the 2003 jerseys, but I would think MLB will auction them online on their own site like they did last year.

However, this is a strange case....

Fernando Rodney wore a all star jersey in 2102 that read "ULISE" on the back for his father. I cna see it does say ULISE on the back of his jersye on MLB workout day. I have Fernando's 2012 GAME DAY BP and it reads RODNEY on the back - authenticated as used ( i believe I did have a photo as well at one point that showed RODNEY on the back). However this is strange...

On this jersey card below that was taken off of his "WORKOUT DAY" jersey, the letter N is the letter on the patch. Which means either rodney wore 2 jerseys on workout Day/HRD or the card isn't legit.
