What do you guys think is the worst number to see on a jersey (not sizing jsut the acutal number) now for different sports different numbers on jersyes mean things but here are a few that I do not like at all for cosmetic reasons

#61 (on football or baseball it looks lobsided)
#49 for football
anything over #70 (except Joe Maddon for the Rays) in baseball
#1 in any sport (looks generic)
#79 in football
#48 in baseball

How ever I always thought #50 is an underused number for a football linebacker, and #33 is my favorite number....

Any thoughts?

I always thought a single digit number on a baseball pitcher looked odd. Texas has a pitcher named Rob Bell who wore #6 in 2001-2002

One weekend I was put in handcuffs and a striped uniform with seven digits on the back. I don't recall what the numbers were but they didn't look good on anyone else in the cell either.

Most double numbers in hockey look odd and overused. Anything between 10-18 on a defenseman looks strange, but I don't mind it.

For football, I actually have the linemen I coach follow a certain numbering system (besides the usual 50-79). I won't divulge my methods, but I will say that they work nicely.;)

I have to vote for 00, the double zero.

For NFL jerseys, it's got to be #69........for obvious reasons. How are you gonna be out on a field playing a very physical game with other men, and have that number on your jersey?!

I vote for "69" -- mainly because a lot of people (presimulgly teens) choose to customize their jerseys with this # because they think they're being clever... but it makes them look stupid.

Slight deviation from the topic... but worst name ever on the back of a jersey? Check this one out. Why ever would a store seriously sell this one?

On the off chance someone in the market for a black Mets jersey just happens to go by the nickname "big worm"?

Anybody remember a Padres catcher named Doug Gwosdz?

Yep, G-W-O-S-D-Z. His nickname was "Eyechart".

Jim Yackel once offered a Gwosdz gamer for sale...with the NOB removed. D'OH!!

I do not like numbers that fall into any of these catagories:

Single digits

Any number < 10 which contains the digit 0

Matching digits. ie, 11, 22, 33, 44, etc. I like variety in my numbers. Using matching digits is a waste of a number.

Any number > 50. Especially ridiculously high numbers like 97. That's right, Jeremy Roenick, I'm talking to you.

Numbers that are symmetrical. In certain fonts 2/5/7 should not be used together.

I tend to prefer odd numbers, but the number 4 is always a good choice.

Lastly, block fonts are ALWAYS preferable to curvy, bubbly fonts.
