    Question about Chipper Jersey

I wanted other members opinions on this jersey that is on ebay. I was under the impression that the Atlanta Braves had not started issuing COAs in 2001 and I am not familiar with the tag for this year. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know about the jerseys authenticity, but the COA looks to be dated November 2, 2004.

The rear Flag limits the use of the jersey to post September 11th 2001 until October 20th 2001 The #41 patch looks good and matches Getty photos.

Although I don't own any 2001's, I agree the tagging looks suspect and doesn't match later seasons patterns. Plus 2-01 indicates it is a set #2 and that would mean he wore exactly 2 home jerseys all season?!?

      Doubtful to say the least

The braves issued team coa's as far back as 1997. However, the early team coa's had the specific date the jersey was worn in stated on the coa's.

Having a 9/11 flag on a set 2 jersey does not rule out the jersey's authenticity either. The jersey looks ok based on photos. An in hand inspection would be great. Would a 2004 coa be issued for a 2001 jersey? All depends i guess on when the braves got around to releasing it to the hobby.

I would like to also add this to the discussion. I have owned six of the braves 9/11 jerseys, all home whites and all lesser stars than chipper. All of the jerseys showed excellent wear, including the kevin millwood I had. I believe with reasonable certainty that the braves used jerseys already in use to add the flag patches to and did not break out a set of new jerseys post 9/11. They simply took what they had and added the flags. The braves were frugal in those days. Remember hank aaron patches from 1999 jerseys being removed from home whites only to have the jerseys used in spring training in 2000? All they did was remove the hank patch and add the mlb logo to the neck

I can see no problem with it.
