1961 Yankee Hale dead

Bob Hale, a member of the 1961 Yankees for the stretch drive, died on September 8 in suburban Chicago at age 78.

Hale played in the American League from 1955-61. He spent the earlier portion of '61 (and all of 1960) with the Indians, and the first five years of his career with the Orioles.

We are losing more and more players from that 1961 every year. I went to a game and saw them play in Kansas City and watched them play many games on televsion during the regular season and in the World Series when I was in Jr. High School. That's been over 50 years now and it doesn't seem that long ago.
