Who owns game used baseball equipment?

Does the player or the organization? What I am asking is whether a baseball player has the right to give away his bats and jerseys or would the organization have a say in this and want the items for a FanFest or to donate to charity. Is this a contractual agreement or what. Is this different in the minor leagues? Does anyone have some insight?

I work with a minor league and know for a fact that the jerseys are not owned by the player but by the team. if a player gives his jersey away the player has to pay a fine or at least thats what i was told.
I collect Jay Bruce and Cincinnati Reds Minor League stuff

If you joined a team they supply the hat, jersey, pants...etc. You would have to have your own glove, bats, shoes...etc. That is usually who has ownership over the equipment.
