Very rare do you see Jersey numbers on the front, maybe at most a small number off to the side of on the upper chest.

But this is the first time I ever saw a Baseball Jersey number dead center in big numbers in the middle of a baseball Jersey and under the name of a team in a big font also

That's definitely unusual, and a 1-year road style, on top of it.

In 1957, the Cubs wore road flannels with some similarity...same arched CHICAGO on top, but with CUBS instead of a number centered beneath.
