That article is from April 2012. I am assuming these weren't used last year? Are they legal?

Mattingly bats has been trying to push the V handles for a few years now. They have most been trying to integrate them into use through their aluminum bat line. Guess others are trying it with wood now. Only time will tell if it actually catches on.

I remember seeing Joe Mather with a few Axe bats at spring training a few years back.

What other bs gimmicks will companies think of next:rolleyes:

Interesting looking handle, can't see how it helps. Seems like another scam item like the necklaces, bracelets, the athletes wear.

But if it takes a placebo to help a player, play better than so be it.

I think they did a feature on these bats on the MLB network yesterday or the day before

How does it feel to hold it, in your opinion? Better than a regular bat, weird?

I should have it in hand early next week. I'll check it out and let you know.

There was actually a softball that built on the same idea...actually, it may have been the same company. Since we were a competitive tournament softball team, we loaded up bats and always tried the latest and greatest.

The design forced your hands to be lined up and swing through the zone in a particular way. The bat wasn't anything special as far as pop was concerned, but there was an issue. You kept pounding the same area of the bat, and considering the bat was aluminum, the bat dented up easily since the same spot was getting hit.

We were swinging an Axe bat at least 10 years ago...and it didn't take off at all. We got sponsored by Miken, when they introduced a composite bat called the Ultra, and composite became the way of the softball world.
