    Interesting Article on Ryan Freel, Concussions, Sports, and Suicides

    While Ryan Freel's suicide got coverage in the deaths thread, I thought that this article would be of more general interest to forum members:

    I'm glad that this is being researched, though I'm sad that head-to-head hits, "bounties" etc. are increasing despite this research. I believe that Teddy Roosevelt discussed banning football unless it cleaned itself up; in his day, there were football deaths each year in high schools. All sports need to address serious safety and health issues as they become problems. Most football fans would rather see plays, not guys being carried off the field every few minutes, as seems to happen more often now than 10 years ago.
