Hello everyone my name is Esteban and I am so glad to finally be on here. I am a huge Marlins fan and am currently working on acquiring at least one jersey from each year my beloved franchise has been in existence. Huge thank you to Chris for helping me sort out my password issue and allowing to be part of this awesome resource for so many people in this great hobby of ours. I just wanted to say that this website has given me such a vast amount of knowledge about the game used hobby and being relatively new to collecting game used jerseys (about a year and a half) this website and its forum members have been essential in helping me make well informed decisions when purchasing items. So excited to finally be on here and no longer just lurking! Thanks again to everyone and my collection follows!

After this recent batch of pickups my year-by-year Marlins collection is almost complete!!! Only missing 1994, 1996 (which is indistinguishable from 1995), 1997, 2002, and 2013. I will also eventually pick up a "Los" Marlins jersey used during Hispanic nights in 2010 and 2011.

The Marlins used these Orange helmets only one time in 2012 on 04/02/2012 against the Yankees in their final exhibition game prior to the start of the season. The helmets were promptly abandoned because the shade of Orange was incorrect. They have yet to come back in 2013 with a new variation of it so I was very excited to be able to pick this up.

The Marlins BlowOut sale this year was great and the folks at the Community Foundation running it were extremely helpful and gracious. Had a blast!

Very interesting jersey, it's missing the team strip tag and I think I know the reason why. This jersey is authenticated to Eovaldi's final start of the 2012 season (September 30, 2012). That date is a day or so after the Marlins as a team autographed and authenticated all their jerseys from the 2012 season. I can tell by the unique stitching method used on this jersey that it was prepared for Nathan at the stadium and issued to him for his final start. I'm certain there are others such as this that the players wore only during the final few games (4 games) of the 2012 season as their jerseys from earlier in the season had already been signed and authenticated.

I might be a big TATC fan but I am an even bigger Mets collector... I was happy to simply own the Marlins TATC style without needing an actual gamer from 1999 -- so when the opportunity came to pick up a retail authentic, I grabbed it. At the same time, I recalled a prior conversation with Esteban, where I made him a promise to contact him first should I ever decide to move the Kotsay... so one thing led to another, and a true Marlins collector wound up with the choice jersey, and I wound up sinking the difference between the 2 jerseys right into my Mets collection.

I am still missing a style or two, need a "Los" Marlins one from 2010-2011, the 1956 Miami Marlins throwback from last year, and the two upcoming special event jerseys from this year (Memorial Day and the Sun Sox TBTC which they will wear on June 8th). Plus there are still a few players which I wish to collect but it's definitely nice to reach one of my primary collecting goals.

Apparently the owner, Loria, doesn't like them which is why they were abandoned after the 2012 season. That is according to Giancarlo Stanton who was asked about it at the All-Star game when he and Henderson Alvarez donned them for the first time since 2012. You would expect that the Marlins would have re-imagined them by now but no they continue to be the only MLB team I have ever seen who does not utilize a traditional road jersey in their uniform set.

Ironically enough, to me these road jerseys are the least visually appealing of the new uniform set but I now fancy them because of how hard to find they have become due to only being used for one season. In actuality, any Miami Marlins game used jerseys (prior to this year) are hard to find because the team (staff) kept most of them following the 2012 season and the 2013's remain in the team's possession as well. 2014 marks the first year the team (through its retail store) have actively looked to market its game used jerseys.

This is quite frankly my most historic Marlins piece as this was worn by Livan the night the Marlins became World Champions for the 1st time in team history. Livan was named WS MVP and said his famous "I love you Miami" quote.

The jersey is photo-matched to several shots following the extra-inning walk-off hit. Interestingly enough, Livan was actually wearing the undershirt on backwards! Looking at photos and video of the game it is evident that Livan has the team logo over the right arm and the Russell logo over the left which is opposite of where they should be.

Coming off the recently released "Brothers in Exile" 30 for 30 special on ESPN, which aired this week, I thought it was fitting I share this now. :D

So happy I was able to obtain one of these 2013 USMC variations. The Marlins did not market these to the public as the players were allowed to keep these. This also was the last time the Marlins ever used the default road jersey in a game (not including Stanton and Alvarez in the 2014 ASG).

Hello Esteban (& other Marlins collectors), can you please verify something I was told by the Marlins GU coordinator? I mainly collect Brazilian born players, and since Rienzo was traded to Miami last offseason, I've been trying to buy his Marlins items. When I talked to the coordinator this week, he told me that they don't usually get non-star player items, unless it's an event-specific item, like Memorial Day or JRD, or even opening day, but they don't get regular season uniforms. Has this always been the case? If so, do you know what they do with the uniforms of non-star players?

He only had Rienzo's Memorial Day jersey & cap, along with the regular season locker tag. Interestingly, he was recalled on 5/23 & the Marlins didn't have a Memorial Day jersey made for him, so this was done by the clubhouse & the stitching of his name & number is different than the other Memorial Day jerseys. The GU coordinator was upfront about this & sent me pictures so I could compare them before purchasing it.
