I have found pictures on Getty of Manny using Xbats during the 03 ALCS but they were of the solid brown type. This on in the ebay auction is two toned. Also it shows little use.Any opinions out there??Where are you on this one Bobby Texeira? Thanks

The bat in the auction looks close to brand new.

I found some pics of him using the same style bat but it's from the ALDS, not the ALCS

It's possible it was a game-issue, but a bat that never really got into an at-bat. Regardless, these bats wouldn't show much use anyway. Since these were high-profile games, you think it wouldn't be that tough to photomatch the bat. Just keep digging. Good luck!

Game 7, Yankee Stadium October 16 2003. The score is tied 5 to 5, Aaron Boone steps up to the plate in the bottom of the 11th and hits the game winning HR into the left field seats off Tim Wakefield and the Red Sox are denied a trip to the 2003 World Series. That was a heartbreaker of a series for Red Sox fans, I was bummed out for weeks! Oh well they got the Yankees back in the 2004 ALCS (the greatest comeback in sports history) and won the World Series.

Jon,

Getting back to the Manny X-bat question. Looks like a game issued bat to me. Manny was using all black(no Dominican flag) and all brown colored X-bats during the ALCS series, I'm not sure if the brown X-bats had the Dominican flag, it may have been covered up with the pine tar application.

Prior to game 1 of the ALCS I have a photo of him holding a two tone X-bat, but he used a brown colored X bat for the game.

That company selling the Manny ALCS bat on ebay: itisauthentic, aren't these guys the former Authentic Sports Investments-ASI? I know they had a ton of Manny two tone X-bats for sale with minimal use and globs of pine tar.

Be really careful when looking for Manny X-bats, I'm sure there are some legit bats out there but the ones I've seen so far on ebay I would stay away from, they don't look like right.

Best Regards, Bobby

Thanks for the help guys.I also noticed that the Manny bats i have and have seen in the past almost never have cleat marks on the barrell because Manny always hits his cleats with the knob and handle thats where the marks are found.Too bad about this bat.I have been looking for a nice Manny XBat for a while now.

No, not ASI, but actually ESM. Matt Monteleone with ESM told me that "itisauthentic" is selling their stuff for them currently

Jon,

I had never looked at the Manny bat I have for cleat marks. Just checked it and not a single cleat mark that I can see on the barrell. However, on the knob and about 2-3 inches up the handle have quite a few. Thanks for the info.
