Heads up if you are a Cowboys' collector. eBay seller davetriplea puchased a game used Cowboys' turf shoe from me February 2. It was a single shoe not attributed to any particular player (no player number present). It was eBay item 290851928363. It is now listed for sale by davetriplea as game used and signed by Jason Witten, item 251227238073 for $100. The signature is BAD! One look at the "J" in Jason and it is easy to tell it is a forged signature. The seller is also selling a pair of Romo used cleats signed by Tony Romo. They look like a pair he purchased on January 27 as item 181066551937. Now they are marked with a number "9" and signed by Tony Romo as item 181066551937. I am positive the "Witten" shoe is the one I sold him and the Romo shoes such look like the ones he purchased January 27. I reported him to eBay but I am certain they will do nothing.

Check these auctions out - take note of the laces - the games were 16 years apart.

Since I submitted my posting here, the seller has received 2 negatives and changed the item description on both the Witten signed shoe and the Romo signed cleats. You think he might be feeling a little heat?

When looking at the Romo auctions side by side, it's clear that they are the same cleats.

What gets me is his description. "I DO NOT KNOW IF THESE HAS BEEN USED BY TONY ROMO IN A GAME, OR NOT I DO KNOW 100% OF HIM SIGNING THEM"

Dude should definitely be avoided.

This seller just changed his eBay user id to daveamy6821. As of now, he doesn't have any items listed for sale.

First post here but I wanted to add to this. At this point, my experience won't help anyone because I'm a relative newbie compared to most.

Seller had two Emmitt Smith signed GU SB XXX balls. One was a terrible looking signature, the other looked really good. I asked him (outside of eBay) how much for the good looking one, and he said I could have it for $350. He sent me pictures of the ball, and it was the EXACT same ball that he previously listed on eBay, but on the more recent pictures there were additional markings on the laces as well as the ball. I played along, exchanging over 20 emails, but the when the questions got tough and his story kept changing, the emails ended with him telling me that he sold it.

Here's a copy of the so-called LOA he offered with the SB XXX football - take a close look at it. Now, if you compare both footballs from both auctions, you'll notice the writing on the laces appear to be the same.

The referee in SB XXX was Red Cashion who retired after the game. The head referee's usually marks the footballs for play so with that in mine, how can similar markings appear on a Super Bowl football 16 years later?

Just some thoughts,

Jim

Seems they re-listed one of the Super Bowl footballs. Hopefully they have a LOL that was spell-checked.

Amazing -- since January 20th he has sold SIX pair of Romo game used/signed home (the greenish ones) pants and he managed to get buyers for the footballs and signed cleats. Incredible.

His feedback shows he just purchased a Wilson NFL football. So how soon before we see a Tony Romo game used football for sale? Or why not just go for Staubach...

Haha checkout his Coa from cowboys on the emmitt SB Ball.
Spelled acuisition should be acquisition. Says guaranreed instead of guaranteed, wrote undersned instead of undersigned, obtain instead of obtained, says Om behalf not On behalf. And the best is SINCEERE Regards instead of SINCERE Regards! Omg...and someone bought this ball.

He has moved on to Eli Manning items now. Just look at his purchase history (he buys low priced items such as pants and cleats) and within a few days they are magically signed by Eli. What really hacks me off is that I have reported him to eBay several times and they don't care. He committing fraud and eBay is the enabler.

Last sentence should read "He is committing fraud and eBay is the enabler".
Sorry about that!

So, a week ago he purchased an NFL football and now he's selling a game used Troy Aikman signed ball. My guess was Romo or Staubach, but it looks like he's got Troy's signature down pretty good. He needs to work on his Witten.

Seller is claiming that he gets his stuff from his sister-in-law, who works for the Cowboys. I wonder if she's the one with the 3rd grade typing skills?

Well, this totally sucks. I am the sucker who bought the Witten cleate. And yes I do agree the J is horrible. I am quite confused on the paperwork that came with the cleate. It does have the matching hologram sticker that the shoe does but the hologram on the paper was put on upside down and looks shady. Any ideas on what do do or how to prove this stuff is not real. I also bought the troy aikman play book from 1994 and the Tony Romo game used signed pants from 2008. I was hoping to surprise my husband as he is a huge fan but I guess i messed up. Any help in authenticating this stuff would be great. Or proving that it is bad would be even better. Thanks sasha

Maybe somebody should contact these other poor people and let them in on his tricks. They are assuming he is legit and all the while he is in his dungen making more fake autographed items to sell. I was looking at his track history and there are alot of people out there who think they are getting a great deal and it is sad as heck. I sure thought I was getting an awesome deal for my husband.

I guess you can contact eBay -- I contacted them 3 times and they didn't give a damn. As you can see, nothing was done -- all the scumbag did was change his user id. If he used the post office then he has committed postal fraud which is a very serious offense. Other than that, you can file a claim with eBay and let them know this guy has committed fraud and you want a complete refund. If you paid using paypal, I would also get them involved and have his account frozen. Good luck.

File a complaint with eBay - just file the complaint as "item not as described", write a lucid argument and I believe that once you file the complaint, the Seller will have you send them back. I don't think the Seller wants the claim to be escalated to a point where eBay looks at it.

The Romo pants are now being listed by one of the buyers. The eBay seller ID is gee3434david who purchased several pair from the original scammer. He purchased a pair of "signed" Romo pants, Manning pants and Ware pants. These were listed with a starting bid of $1000 which has now dropped to $800. BEWARE!!!
