View Full Version : NFL game jerseys - Reebok/Nike sizing

I collect Dallas Cowboys game used jerseys, but I do own a couple of Cowboys game issued jerseys too. I never wear any of my game used jerseys, but I do wear the game issued jerseys during games. (You can usually pick them up fairly cheaply, even for pretty decent players. Much better to wear a low value genuine high quality team issued jersey than go to a store and pay more for some mass produced loose-fit replica/authentic jersey that everybody else has.) I am NOT talking about wearing game used jerseys. That I would never do. (That is "Rule: 1" in the game used ownership manual for sure!)

The game issued jerseys I own and wear are Reebok size 44 and 46 and range from 2007 to 2010 seasons. With the move to Nike for NFL jerseys from 2012, does anybody own both Nike and Reebok game jerseys and know how the new Nike sizing compares to the fairly recent Reebok gamers?

The reason I ask is that when the Cowboys next have a tent sale, hopefully plenty more Nike game jerseys will hit the market and I want to know what size Nike jersey to get that equates to a Reebok 44 and a Reebok 46.

From the 2010 season, quite a few Cowboys skill position players moved to different cut of jersey, where the cuffed arm holes are part of the jersey body (like a lineman-style) instead of the cuffed sleeves worn previously. The same is true with the Nike jerseys, where the skill position players seem to wear two different cuts. It is the game issued jerseys with the cuffed sleeves that I wear during games, as the newer lineman-style game jerseys look ridiculous when worn without pads. (See this year's Superbowl media day interviews for proof!)

You will probably want to buy a smaller size Nike. I don't have a Nike to compare side-by-side, but check out the discussion on this thread.

Thanks. That gives me some idea. If anyone has any recent Reebok gamers and 2012 Nike jerseys in hand to directly compare, that would be great.

I own Kellen Davis (Chicago Bears) Reebok and Nike.

I have a Steve Smith Nike and he stayed the same with a 38.

Thanks for that. Having thought about it more, I guess the easiest way is when a Nike game issued jersey comes available, I just need to check what size the same player used to wear in Reebok to see if the Nike will fit me. Kind of answered my own question really, lol!
