This item below made me wonder what is out there in the hobby. What else is out there. Also mention if it also has player characteristics on the bat that traced it back to the player.

That would be a cool collection.

But have any of the confiscated bats ever come up for sale? None of the Rose corked bats that have come up for public sale was the confiscated bat.

thanks for the link.

Seems that origin of the bat story from the Beckett writeup mentioned in the EBay listing (from Mills Creek) and the story from the VP from Pacific interview (from a Pacific photographer from the Indians) dont mesh.

Per an article on page 50 of The Sporting News dated December 16, 1978, at the annual BBWAA awards banquet Andre Thornton of the Cleveland Indians admitted using a corked bat for two weeks early in the 1978 season -- before discarding the bat and going on to record an excellent season.

I ran across a lot of Harmon Killebrew bats in the early 90's for sale. I think there were 6 bats total and 3 for the 6 were corked. All showed quite a bit of use and the plugs that had been used to fill the end of the bats had shrunk and you could see the cork inside the bat. One of the bats' plugs had shrunk so much that it could be pulled completely out and clearly exposed the cork that had been jammed into the end of the bat.
