All,

Regarding the mesh St. Patrick's Day jersey that was worn by the Red Sox from 2004 through 2007...

All 4 years had a 2-color name on back. I have seen examples of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 jerseys, and it looks like the 2005s had nameplates, whereas the 2006s and 2007s didn't.

Does anyone out there have a 2004 for reference? I want to know if this year used nameplates like the 2005, or if 2005 was just a 1-year experiment that didn't work out.

Thanks
Nick

Joel,

Thanks for the link but unfortunately it wasn't conclusive. The photo of the jersey looks like it did not have a nameplate but it is possibly a mock-up done before the actual game or even something else. I have a retail authentic from '04 and it does not have a nameplate; I also don't think I have ever seen one on a retail. I wish there were some photos of either game ('04 / '05) out there.

You would think there would be some photography coverage at the SP Day game. Only Getty photos I found are from 2007 and those were from a regular season game, commemorating the passing of Auerbach, the Celtics coach. No nameplates on the 2007 jersey worn in April. There is an interesting VT on the sleeve to commemorate the college shooting at Virginia Tech.

These SP jerseys are Batting Practice jerseys and just looking up the regular Boston BP jersey from 2004 to 2007, there are no namplates present. I thought you said you had an example of a 2005 SP jersey with a nameplate? My hunch is that none of those years had nameplates for the SP jerseys.

My assumption is that the wash tag is the only difference between retail (all 6000) and issued SP jerseys (2004-5 0065 or 2006-7 0006).

Good Luck finding photos.

A follow-up to my earlier query... A 2005 Red Sox St. Patrick's Day jersey gamer just hit ebay tonight, and sure enough, it has a nameplate!

So... these jerseys were worn 2004-2005-2006-2007, and only 2005 featured nameplates. 2004, 2006 and 2007 didn't. Strange, huh?

The Seller had a couple of jerseys from each year (2006 and 2007) but I only added a link to a single jersey.

Here's a 2006

Both had nameplates.

There's a consistency between 2005 and 2006-07, but it's not complete.

The 2005 version has a true nameplate. The 2006 and 2007 versions also have a NOB, but they are individually lettered and directly attached, not plated.

Joel - I can't access eBay at work but there is a Trent Durrington one on eBay from Kruk. It has a nameplate, I want to say it was 2006?

Sorry, Nick that should have been addressed to.
