1. Does the season (same team) actually matter when the jersey was actually worn?
a. What if they make the playoffs?
b. What if it has a special patch?
c. What if the player had a great game when wearing that particular jersey?

Do these factors increase the value significantly or just a little?

Lets say the normal, run of the mill, jersey of that player runs $2,000. What would you estimate the increase in value for each part?

Hopefully these make sense.

Also would like to ask,
Is a rookie jersey worth more?

Yes, yes and yes, or not if you do not care.
Sometimes you have to collect what you like. If you love the Red Sox you would probably want a 2004 jersey over 2005 correct? How much more it is worth is what you are willing to pay and what you are willing to shoot for or settle with when the items are more or less.

I feel Game used items are about a hunt and backwards research. You are not buying a cell phone, where you do research and go buy what you want. You kind of have to search and find, then do research on the item and then purchase if you can.
As a new person I would sign up and register for all the major auction houses. Look over their catalogs and learn how those auctions work and see pricing.
Sports Collectors Digest advertises a lot of the auction houses. Look at the top line of game used universe and they seem to be a good one also.
Do as much much research as you feel comfortable with and pay what you think the item is worth to you.
Not an easy hobby, but rewarding when you get a,good item.
Good luck.
