Opinions On This Hat..........

I've been looking for a Torii Hunter game worn hat for awhile now and I was very happy when I saw one in Historic Auctions. But there's one problem though, it looks game issued, not game used. I just wanted to get a few members' opinions before bidding:

Why I Believe It May Be Game Issued:

The inner band is perfectly white

Absolutely no sweat/dirt stains are visible inside and out

The brim looks to be flat, and ofcoarse no players wear their brim flat (besides Chad Cordero and Dontrelle Willis that I think of)

If it is in fact game worn it doesn't look like it's seen much action, which IMO comes close to defeating the purpose of owning something that's "game used." To me the only thing "used" about it is that it used to be in a box. Kyle, given that Hunter looks like he'll be playing for a while, if I were looking for his hat I'd hold out for one that shows more use. Also, take a look at a few recent threads centering on some of HA's other auction items and ask yourself if you'd be comfortable buying from them.

Regarding Torii Hunter writing "game used" or "G.U." on items, I had seen a Twins sleeveless jersey without the "34" patch on it on ebay. Torii had signed it and wrote "game used 2006." However, ALL sleeveless Twins jersey's have the "34" patch as Puckett died before the 2006 season. I spoke with the seller and that jersey was worn by Hunter in January 2006 at Twinsfest when he introduced the sleeveless jersey to the fans. He worn it, but not in a game. Therefore I take Torii's "Game Used" inscription with a grain of salt.

Yes, I have seen the other posts about Historic Auctions but most are all concerning jerseys, which I am staying away from in their auctions, but the auctions that I do look at come from ASI who I can trust (even though they ripped me off the other day)

did ASI manage to resolve your issues to your satisfaction in between wednesday and thursday?

I e-mailed Historic Auctions about the hat and asked them if it showed any signs of game used and they removed the auction.
